Dr Vipul Aggarwal is an Interventional Gastroenterologist with extensive training and specialisation in various diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He is currently the Director of the Gastroenterolgy and Hepatology Unit at Canberra Hospital.
Dr Aggarwal, completed his Basic Physician and General Gastroenterology training at the Royal Prince Alfred and St George Hospitals in Sydney. He subsequently completed a year of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy training at The Royal North Shore Hospital (Sydney) and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) in 2010.
Following this, Dr Aggarwal secured the prestigious Interventional endoscopy fellowship at the Wake Forest Baptist University Hospital, in North Carolina, USA. During this time he obtained further comprehensive training and competency in all areas of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Dr Aggarwal has a very keen interest in Bariatric endotherapy. He has completed extensive training in these procedures including Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty and intragastric balloon placement and removal. He has received certification for completing the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy (ASGE) accredited endoscopic suturing course in Chicago, USA .
He also has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic and biliary disorders and early detection and management of all gastrointestinal cancers. He is proficient in performing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) for Barrett’s oesophagus, large polyp resection (EMR), and Video capsule endoscopy. Dr Aggarwal is accredited for all these endoscopic procedures by the Conjoint Committee for Training under the Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA).
He is a member of Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Association of Bariatric Endoscopy (ABE). Dr Aggarwal actively presents and publishes his research through the year. As a specialist clinician he provides comprehensive, evidence based and patient-centric medical care to all his patients.
