What is the Allurion Balloon?

The Allurion™ balloon is the world’s first swallowable, “procedureless” gastric balloon.

It requires no surgery, endoscopy^ or anaesthesia for placement or removal

The balloon is a soft, polyurethane balloon packaged into a swallowable capsule attached to a thin catheter or tube. Once the balloon is swallowed and correctly placed, the balloon is filled with 550ml of fluid through the catheter. Once fully filled, the Allurion balloon is approximately the size of a grapefruit and will help you feel fuller for longer. After approximately 16 weeks, the Allurion balloon deflates automatically and is passed naturally in the toilet.

What is the Orbera Balloon?



  • Orbera is a safe, non-surgical, non-permanent, incision-free weight loss program. The gastric balloon is inserted orally through your oesophagus and placed directly into your stomach during a quick, non-surgical procedure. There is no need for any incisions, stitches or scars.

    The Orbera balloon helps to fill the stomach and encourage portion control. It aids in teaching healthy eating habits to keep the weight off even after the balloon is removed.

    After six months, the balloon is removed in the same way as the placement process.
